Ending World .:·
Ending World

Ending World is coming along great. I'm taking my time and the game is all the better for it.

To your left is a shot of the Akyrema Academy's food court. This is one of the incidental event sequences in the game that people can discover and interact with. The way that you decide to communicate with other players will effect the story and your battle stats. Above that is a shot from the opening sequence.

Currently the team contains two people; myself and Chris who is helping out in writing some of the music. I have two other contacts that aren't doing anything yet, but are apparently interested. We'll see where that'll go.

If *you* are interested in helping out, you're enthusiastic about the project and you have some skill(s) to offer, don't hesitate to tell us about it! Go on the forums and post away. I'm looking for positive team members that will contribute skills to the project; don't try to join under the assumption that you can make this your own project. There is plenty of room to play around with minor storylines, individual enemies and scenes etc, but the overall theme, look, feel and sound of the game is under my control and I like it that way. :) Giving up control is what you do on commercial projects - my interest in Ending World is that I get to do whatever I feel like doing. If you want to come help out, great. If you want to build your own RPG, then do so. Once EW:Act1 is released, you'll be able to use it to create your own games using the scripting engine. Additionally, I'll be encouraging people to create side story / alternate reality acts; if they're good enough they'll get featured here on the site.

Just spent 14 + hours working on EW. The scripting engine is now shveet and can do almost everything we could ever want it to. We don't even have to touch the actual game code anymore to make new scenarios and levels. Its really fun to plot out the story sequences with it. ^^
The game itself is coming along nicely too. Its starting to develop some character, which is great. The scripts should help us shape the game a lot faster and in a more lively way. I can't wait to get Act I out, I think people are going to enjoy it. ;)

We're now officially recruiting a team for Ending World! If you want to be involved as a scripter, background graphics creator or story writer, sign up for the forums and post about your interest. Our co-composer Chris is going to try and hook us up with some more graphics people.

Why are we looking for a team? Because everyone's busy! I have two active projects that I am coding and creating graphics for; one completed project which I'm marketing and about four other projects that are in very early planning stages. I don't have time to do everything for EW; so that's why we're questing to find talented people to fill in. This should actually allow the game to be finished faster as well as opening it up to new interpretations and ideas.

We should be announcing some exciting NiM-X news soon... I have a slew of code to write before I can be sure of it though. ;)

Testing on the shareware project has begun. Andy was the first tester to file a report - very good feedback, and I'm starting to implement some minor fixes and improvements already.

Game.. almost.. done... must.. finish...
Which game? The shareware project game thing... is almost done... going into testing tomorrow. Still a lot of things left to refine, but should be able to clean it all up in a week or two...
After that, its all website/marketing work...and eventually I can have some time free to do NiM-X stuff. Andy sent me the latest code, I have some bug fixes to do.. . then we might be nearly ready for another alpha release.

Mmm... Kittytown Rescue is almost at 30,000 lines of code! Its currently at 25,500. (including ZPE source) Complex's latest Dungeon Gladiator demo was roughly 50,000 lines. Ye olde NiM2 source is 5,500 lines. NiM-X is nearly 10,000 including the ZPE source, and Ending World is at about the same.

That I am.. spent 90% of the day working on the shareware project; managed to get it to the first "Done" phase. All the gameplay is up and running, but there are still a pile of refinements to do and lots of testing yet to come.

A Probable New Team Member Approaches... .:·

A dude called Chris messaged me yesterday with interest for working on the score for Ending World. I checked out some of his stuff, and I was impressed. However, I had already written a number of themes for Ending World. So what to do? Looks like Chris will be arranging some of my themes and composing some of his own for EW! What does this mean for the project? It gets done sooner! Now there's something to drink to. I'm looking forward to see what Chris does with the game's existing themes; he'll be contacting me in the near future with some samples provided that all goes well. I'm hoping to post progress on the music (demo tracks) here as well so that people can check 'em out as we go. (kinda like the NX releases) Chris'll be added to the Team roster after we see enough progress from him. Looking forward to it!

The site is backup! And there was much rejoicing. Now Zaphire doesn't have to be a grumpy bastard anymore.

The Gallery isn't working quite right yet, but hopefully I'll be able to fix that too.

Here's the latest that Eos and I have been working on... this isn't a render, this is a screencap from within Blender. We've both had a hand in modelling this one. Lots of more stuff done lately; we'll share some shots of 'em later. ^^

Currently (just as I write this update) Andy's getting more work done on NiM-X. Right now he's working on implementing some explosions; which Stryker rendered out for us. More info and possibly screenshots soon.

I whiped up this Angler Fish today as well as an Electric Eel. Things are progressing very quickly. We had a meeting on Kittytown Rescue today. Some pressure was lifted from the project, so I may be able to spare a few more minutes for EW and NX in the coming weeks.

Andy is back, and will probably start to do stuff soon. I'm switching our sound engine over to Bass due to problems with Audiere. The switch is almost done, but Bass uses a different way of changing sound/music pitch and I'm still trying to figure out a good way to convert thing from the old system to the new.

Also, I think Chief Fruity is still logging out on the chat. :O Trans was also on when the bug was discovered.
